So… I’m not much of a writer, but I’ve always liked to write blogs. However, never thought that money/retirement blogs would ever be my thing. So excuse me if, once in a while, my thoughts drift slightly to other things… like parenting 101 – my 18 months old still wakes up several times at night, “dog parenting” 101 – tiring out a dobby with a flirt pole?, or Mindy Kaling’s picture of the day – her post oscars outfit …

But first things first… While hubby was busy carefully choosing our stocks, I was left with helping find a name for the blog (I believe it is still an important part of the blog, if not the most!). Coming with a blog name is actually hard! I wanted to find a name that would be meaningful to both of us. It seemed that every name we would agree on had been registered and for sale… While “TheCoupleWhoWantedToRetireReallyEarly.org” was available, it just wasn’t what I was looking for. As we were giving up on finding the “right” name and ready to settle for “blognamesarehard.com”, hubby said something […] blah blah […] screaming little man […] blaaaah.

To be honest, I don’t remember in what context hubby brought up our screaming little man (yes that 18 months old who still wakes up several times at night… sighs), although it is probably word for word what he said at the time. As soon as I heard this, I knew we had found it, our blog’s name!

Now back to parenting 101 – we need a name for screaming little man # 2, coming soon, August 2016!

And to “dog parenting 101” – wow we definitely need to make our own flirt poles!

And to Mindy Kaling’s picture of the day – just love how she goes from glamour to sweat pants!

Thanks! You have a great blog! I just can’t imagine getting in so much debt and having the strength to start all over again! I’m looking forward to following you on your journey to retirement as well!

What a fun way to come up with a blog name, you have chosen well 🙂 Good luck with your journey and the blogging. You’ll get the hang of it, just always let your personality shine through. That is what makes blogs unique – how the writer writes their words, we get a good feeling of who you are.

    Hi MrSLM,
    Another fellow Montrealer here 🙂
Stumbled upon your blog in the Mr Root Of Good’s comments.
Very curious to read about your journey to FIRE since this is my plan, too!
Well, a part of the plan, I also want to have a stable online business to lean on 🙂

Welcome to the blogging and looking forward to reading your posts!

Hi Nadya! Great to see fellow Montrealers, didn’t realize how many of them there are! Looking at your blog, sounds like you’re pretty heavily in the SEO game as a side business. We used to do that a bit years ago, but couldn’t keep up post-panda so kind of abandoned all of that. I’m sure there’s a tonne we could learn from you, maybe we should start learning again 😀

I do think you should start learning again! It is actually a never ending learning game – like any other software development related work 🙂
I know many got burned by Google’s updates – Panda was not the worst one actually – and I am a bit afraid I will be among the burned ones, too. But so far I am pretty enjoying my journey and embracing challenges 🙂
I have been dreaming of having my own business since a long time, and the online version seems to be what I need. Flexibility, possibility to apply my existing skills, good reward, multiple diversified income revenues, all sounds great.

I saw your comment on my blog – I will reply to it shortly!

I might I might, or maybe I’ll leave it to MrsSLM 🙂 I’ve already got a never-ending learning game as a software engineer haha!

Personally I’d love to have some sites making money again, but I think we need to re-learn from the ground up. I doubt any of our old tricks apply to the current environment.

          What was worse than Panda?
