NOT a mon
Montreal was filled with these little fellas. I thought they were Monarch butterflies, they’re just really similar.

We had a last gasp of summer last week, in the form of a brutal heatwave. Hottest it’s been all summer, Montreal ended up re-opening a lot of the kid’s pools for the duration.

It’s cooled off significantly since then, and we’re firmly in normal Autumn weather and temperature ranges. Personally, it’s my favourite time of the year. Cold, crisp air. A variety of fall recipes get trotted out, often featuring pumpkin (love my pumpkin scones from Starbucks). And leading up to Halloween is horror movies galore. I signed up for this “netflix for horror” called Shudder, only a couple bucks a month and has a tonne of content on there.

Work is “interesting”. Projects are all launching, and so far everything seems to be going smoothly. Some politics from another lead, fact of life I suppose. I hate the game of office politics, but luckily… I don’t have to play along! Being so close to FIRE is freeing. I don’t really care what happens, just keep the paycheques rolling in for a bit longer.

Dividends: $2,693.41

Another strong month, if I say so myself. I could get used to seeing these < $2k payouts each month. Right now the big focus is filling up all the unused RRSP room that I've accumulated over the years but not used (yeah I'm not a details person sometimes). We've contributed roughly $40k of the $80k in room, so until that's done the dividend income won't budge much, save for dividend raises. I tend to invest all the RRSP contributions in a few ETF's for diversification, mostly TSE:XEC and TSE:XEF, and the yield on those is insignificant. My covered call on NYSEARCA:TQQQ was going to expire in the money, so I ended up rolling it up and out. If I end up getting assigned I'll have made over 20% on that trade, so not bad. Otherwise I'll happily keep writing calls on it. Ended up selling my NASDAQ:XIV position, bought in at an average of about $80 and sold for $92 so happy with how that went. Overall that "play" account is growing fast, started out at $10k last year, and it's around $17.5k now.

SLM, I’m glad the weather is changing to a more favorable season for you. Congrats on having another solid month. It’s so impressive that the dividends you are getting come from so many diversified sources. Plus, $2693.41 in one month is no chump change. Looking forward to next month’s report.

Wow. I don’t know what more to say SLM . These results are simply amazing. Man I love reading this report, it is very inspiring. I have heard that Montreal is beautiful and I’m sure the fall brings the best out of the city. It seems to everywhere and it is the reason it is my wife’s favorite season.

    Take care,

Looking good this month! I would love to have >$2K a month dividend income. Mine was just $600 this month and that’s considered a good month. Sorry to hear that coworkers are pissing you off, I hate office politics.

It’s like high school all over again when there are mean people out there who aren’t mature.

That’s awesome you don’t have to participate in office politics. Those get pretty tiring. $400 from VXC? Damn!
